About Tennis Townhouses

Tennis Townhouses is a collection of 44 two and three-bedroom townhouses in groups of 3 or 4 that are nestled in the hillside across from Keystone Lake and Keystone Lodge and Spa.  Tennis Townhouses was designed by noted architect Howard Backen early in his career.  He artfully located each building to take advantage of the light and expansive mountain views and designed each unit to maximize privacy and space utilization.  He went on to become a noted architect in the Napa Valley.  Howard Backen co-founded Backen, Arrigoni & Ross, now BAR Architects, following college and later founded Backen & Gillam Architects in Napa, California.  At the latter firm, he primarily focuses on residential and winery projects.  Eschewing narcissistic styles as fads, Backen opts for architectural designs that mesh with the landscape and its occupants.  He is credited for being a large influence on the architectural aesthetic of Napa Valley.  It is generally the philosophy of the HOA to maintain, as much as possible, the original architectural design when renovations are necessary.
